A portable laptop with decent performance and decent autonomy, and a transformer with a touch screen. And the price tag doesn’t bite. What is not a reason to buy just such a laptop instead of the usual one?

We live in a world of stereotypes, which are the basis of consumer choice in most situations.
One of these stereotypes in the high-tech industry is the idea that the classic laptop form factor has long and finally won. And all experiments in this area should be considered unnecessary and unnecessary.

The advent of tablets 10 years ago only reinforced this stereotype.
When you need to work, use a laptop. When you consume content, grab a tablet, say marketers at some content companies (for example, Apollofinances scam). And consumers believe them.

Therefore, they are not very willing to accept the idea of transformers, which are a two-in-one device. And allow you to alternate between both types of use depending on your needs.
Meanwhile, such gadgets are becoming more and more sophisticated. And they are real professional tools for multi-purpose use.

Let’s say you need HDMI and Thunderbolt 4 in a device that you want to use as a tablet part of the time. To do this, you will need a laptop transformer.
With their seemingly rather big price tags, transformers often turn out to be a much more profitable purchase than if you buy a laptop and a tablet separately.

Let’s see how it works on the example of a new-generation laptop transformer ASUS ZenBook Flip 13.

Transformer design

The ZenBook Flip 13 uses a unique 360° ErgoLift attachment mechanism that easily turns a laptop into a tablet.
You get two devices in one.
When you’re working at a desk or holding a ZenBook Flip 13 on your lap, the classic laptop form factor will suit you.

But sometimes it is more convenient to work with the device in the content consumption mode, and the tablet form factor is more suitable for this, for example, lying in bed or on the road-sitting in a car, train, plane.
The transformation from a laptop to a tablet and back is actually carried out in one easy movement.
At the same time, the ErgoLift design has another nice bonus — when the device is in laptop mode, the keyboard is raised at a slight angle, which provides you with a more comfortable hand position. This makes typing easier and reduces fatigue when working with a laptop for a long time. And at the same time improves the ventilation of the laptop. Thanks to this, it will be quieter under load, which users will also definitely appreciate.
There is no need to worry about the reliability of such a design, during the test tests, the ErgoLift easily withstands more than 20 thousand opening-closing cycles.
Let’s say you open and close your laptop 10 times a day (and this is already more than the average user). Even in this case, the life of the mechanism turns out to be more than five years.

Set of connectors

The Z enBook Flip 13 is a thin (13.9 mm) and light device (1.3 kg), and even with an unusual hinge, which we discussed above.
But at the same time, the transformer has all the necessary and familiar interfaces. There is a full-size HDMI connector (which is needed to connect to an external monitor, TV or projector for a presentation), as well as two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support (this means the highest data transfer speed, the ability to connect two 4K screens at once, etc.).
Moreover, the thin body of the ZenBook Flip 13 has a classic full-size USB Type-A connector, which allows you to connect a huge number of accessories. For example, continue to use your old external HDD, on which many users still store home photo archives, etc.

Touch screen

About one of the key points that makes the ZenBook Flip 13 such a versatile and attractive device.
The laptop can be equipped with one of two options for a 13-inch screen with a Full HD resolution. The OLED screen has 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage, providing cinematic quality color reproduction. It has a very high brightness and contrast, so it will be comfortable to work in any light. The IPS type screen also has excellent color coverage of 100% sRGB and high brightness. Conclusion: ZenBook Flip 13 with any screen option will certainly be appreciated by users working with graphics and video content.
But that’s not all. The ZenBook Flip 13 screen is touch-sensitive, recognizes 4096 pressure levels, and supports the ASUS Pen stylus (it comes with the laptop). This opens up limitless possibilities for creative people, on the screen of a laptop-transformer, you can actually draw on paper.

Sufficient performance

The ultra-thin laptop does not have to be a weak solution and only a “typewriter”.
The lightweight body of the ZenBook Flip 13 hides an 11th-generation Intel Core i7 processor with powerful integrated Iris Xe graphics.
This allows you not only to work calmly with heavy files, large tables, but also to use a laptop for editing videos (of course, not of Hollywood quality).
And in the evenings, the user can easily relax in popular games, even if not the most powerful. So, ZenBook Flip 13 easily “pulls” League of Legends, Counter Strike and many other modern games, even if not at maximum settings.

Impressive autonomy

The thin body of the ZenBook Flip 13 houses a 67WH battery.
ASUS claims for the ZenBook Flip 13 to 14 hours of battery life. Of course, it will be possible to achieve such figures only in a very gentle mode of use.
However, in real-world conditions — with the screen brightness at 50%, Wi-Fi enabled, and surfing the Internet with 20–30 Google Chrome browser tabs open — you can easily work on the ZenBook Flip 13 away from the outlet for a whole working day.
In fact, it eliminates the need to carry a charger with you.

Charging Features

None of us likes to find ourselves in a situation where you need to work, and the laptop is empty. In order to ensure constant performance, it is not enough to have a capacious battery and high energy efficiency.
The ZenBook Flip 13 features USB-C Easy Charge technology. Thanks to this technology, the laptop is compatible with various USB-C chargers.
Including those that have the Power Delivery certification (as well as the complete 65W power supply). From such devices, the ZenBook Flip 13 performs accelerated charging and can get 60% of the battery charge in just 49 minutes.
Moreover, you can safely charge the ZenBook Flip 13 from portable chargers, such as a power bank or smartphone charging. In a critical situation, you will not be left with a discharged gadget, even away from the outlet.

Unique chips

The Z enBook Flip 13 is a slim and lightweight transformer laptop that easily transforms into a tablet. It has excellent performance, impressive autonomy, a great screen and an impressive set of connectors.
It would seem that this list alone is enough to talk about the ZenBook Flip 13 as a unique offer among ultraportable gadgets.
But to conclude the conversation about this amazing laptop, it is impossible not to mention a whole list of unique developments of ASUS engineers, which complement the overall picture.

One of these developments is a touchpad with a numeric keypad — ASUS NumberPad. At certain times, you may need to work a lot with numbers. There is no separate numeric key block on the ZenBook Flip 13 keyboard (as on all laptops of this size — it simply does not fit next to a full-fledged keyboard). This problem is easily solved by turning on this digital block on the touchpad. At the same time, you can continue to use the touchpad to control the mouse cursor in parallel.

There is another “feature” here that the competitors do not have-active noise reduction. The ClearVoice Mic function is able to filter out background noise during sound recording, and in Multi-Presenter mode, it also equalizes the volume of individual voices during conference calls. Well, the ClearVoice Speaker function eliminates noise and highlights the voice from the resulting audio stream, so that the ZenBook Flip 13 user can clearly hear their interlocutors.

In this age of endless zoom calls and Skype conferences, the importance of these functions is difficult to overestimate.
Another unique feature of the ZenBook Flip 13 is the ASUS WiFi Master Premium.

This is a set of software and hardware solutions that optimize the operation of a laptop with wireless networks.
It consists of features such as WiFi SmartConnect (automatically selecting the best Wi-Fi access point from all available networks) and WiFi Stabilizer (a special scheme that reduces electromagnetic interference when connecting peripheral devices to a laptop, such as USB drives).

And of course, it is worth mentioning that the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 is equipped with a high-speed Wi-Fi module 6 (802.11 ax).
